MY SUCCESS STARTS HERE: THE POWER OF THE MIND
Yes! I know my success starts here.
So, for the past 3 months, I’ve become deeply committed to my self-investment, and I’ve witnessed rapid changes thus far.
My approach to problems amazes me. I handle them calmly and methodically. For example, when faced with an extremely overwhelming problem, I first calm my nerves. This is necessary because I naturally tend to overreact quickly due to my temperament, leading to unnecessary pressure on my mind. I look at the problem from different angles, think about it without worrying. If I find that I can’t think of a solution, I consult my family, mentors, and sometimes friends. If, after applying their proposed solution, it doesn’t work, I give myself some time, and eventually, along the way, I find a solution (I can’t kill myself 😁). This journey is transforming my mind and changing me.
So far, I’ve come to realize that the position of my mind determines my future, because the human mind is one of the most powerful tools placed in a person. By position, I mean the make-up of the human mind, which basically consists of;
- The knowledge position: encompassed with our understanding derived from both learnt (experiential) and observered (educational) experiences.
- The decision position: influenced by our acquired knowledge, emotional state and the strength of our willpower, ultimately guiding our actions. And we possess the ability to selectively retain or discard information.
Daniel Greenberg said “You can’t make someone learn something — you really can’t teach someone something — they have to want to learn it. And if they want to learn, they will.”
Our reaction is significantly influenced by the factors discussed earlier, along with the surrounding environment, which can have either positive or negative implications for both oneself and others.
It is crucial to recognize that these processes primarily originate in the mind (the internal realm) before they manifest in the physical realm (the external).
Additional insights into the components of the human mind, based on scientific psychology according to Sigmund Freud, can be found here.
Now let’s take a look at the biblical perspective a bit shall we 😄
“[4] And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, ‘This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.’
[5] Then He brought him outside and said, ‘Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.’ And He said to him, ‘So shall your descendants be.’
[6] And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.” — Genesis 15:4–6 (NKJV)
This is an exert from the story of when GOD reassured Abraham of his protection and promised him a great reward. Abraham expressed his concern about not having an heir. He still found it hard to believe even after GOD had reassured him of his own heir. So GOD had to bring him out and change the position of his mind, firstly by giving him knowledge (cognitive understanding). Also, using graphical illustration which in this case is the stars in the sky (visual reinforcement). This ultimately strengthened his faith and made him make a decision to follow GOD wholeheartedly.
It’s so profound that the supernatural saw the need for the man’s mind to be repositioned and educated. It also highlights the potential for transformation and the ability to alter one’s perception through a shift in mindset, leading to strengthened faith and resolute decision-making.
I hope you start your journey of self-investment today and begin building your path to success. Let’s keep winning! ☺️
